Email Support
Pop account support
On setting up your hosting account with Webage you will be provided with the address and login details for your email control panel. This email control panel allows you to setup and manage users, passwords, redirects and auto-cc's. The control panel can also generate the main setup details you require for an account, so it is easy for you to pass this onto the email users on your domains.
Email address: myuser@mydomain.co.uk
Username: myuser@mydomain.co.uk
Password: mypass
Incoming Mail server (POP3): pop.webage.co.uk
Outgoing Mail server (SMTP): smtp.webage.co.uk
Once you have setup the above parameters - remember to configure outgoing mail server authentication (smtp-auth). This will allow your email client to send mail out through our mail servers even if you havent checked your mail first (known as pop-before-smtp).
Setting up "Outgoing Mail Server Authentication" in Outlook Express.
- Open Outlook Express. Now choose Tools > Accounts.
- Select the "Mail" tab
- Select your email account and click on properties
- On the "General" Tab check that your email address is correct
- On the "Servers" Tab make sure that the "Account Name" is identical to your email address
- Tick the box next to "My server requires authentication"
- Click on the settings button and make sure that "use same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected
Our systems also authenticate outgoing email using the policy known as "pop-before-smtp", in other words if you check your email before sending it, our server knows that you are bona fide customer on the system, and will therefore allow you to send email through our servers. However, as not all email clients do check for mail before sending, it is worth setting up outgoing mail server authentication as described above.
If you require further support please call Webage on our customer support number 0906 757 9988.
Exchange Server Support
Unusually for any ISP Webage can support you with the setup of your Exchange server. We can help you decide whether it is best to use a pop connector for Exchange, an email forwarder, or a DNS MX record. We also provide MX backup services so that if your Exchange server goes offline, our systems will store your incoming emails until your system comes back online again.
